Dripback Pre Hammerfest Interview
February 26, 2012 in Hammerfest 2012, Interviews

Roarrock caught up with Dripback bassist Adam Da Rat for a quick chin wag, here is what he had to say.
ADR. No problem!
ADR. Business as usual although I am still trying to work out how I’m going to get there in time for Dripback’s set. I am actually travelling 5,000 miles from Austin, Texas to play this show which shows just how psyched and excited we are to be at Hammerfest. I’ve nearly worked it out.
SH. What can we expect from your set at Hammerfest?
ADR. Apart from a jetlagged bassplayer? Five friends delivering the most brutal and energetic set of the weekend. Fat grooves, brutal blasts, all manner of shape throwing and some of the most ridiculous facial expressions in metal.
SH. Who else are you looking forward to checking out?
AD. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Skindred give anything less than an incredible show, so them. Believe it or not, three of us in Dripback are huge Dream Evil fans so we’ll be throwing the horns for their set. There’s actually some great bands on the day we play, so I also hope to catch Mortad, Senser, Hell and as I’ve not yet had the pleasure – I’m sure that’s the right word – OAF.
SH. Dripback live, how intense should we expect it to be?
ADR. Very. We put everything into our shows, it’s not just about nailing the notes. We tend to lose our shit for the time we’re on stage so aside from the sonic attack there’s also a lot of movement, energy and the occasional injury. If you want to be on the safe side bring a crash helmet.
SH. Will you be doing anything different at Hammerfest?
ADR. I think the fact that we’ll be in a pontins with the likes of Bob The Builder will make it different enough.
SH. After Hammerfest whats next up for Dripback?
ADR. Hopefully a couple of festivals this summer before we head into the studio to start work on our debut album.
SH. Have any of you been to Pontins before?
ADR. I’ve been to Hammerfest before. I especially enjoyed the combination of excessive drinking, late night metal and unlimited access to the ball pond.
SH. How long will your set be at Hammerfest?
40 minutes apparently. It always feels like less.
SH. Finally Adam any words for the Hammerfest crowd?
ADR. Yeah check out our shit before you get to Prestatyn so you can join in the backing vocals. And buy a t-shirt.
